Small white, fragrant flowers bloom in the spring, giving way to deliciously sweet plums that are ripe in August. The skin of the fruit is red with golden yellow flesh. They have an inedible pit in the middle. You can eat the plums fresh or use them in desserts, jams, juices, and jellies. Superior plum does not self-pollinate, so another plum is necessary for fruiting.
